Geraldo’s GinFest was a sell-out success as 250 gin lovers descended on The Brisbane House Hotel last Friday. Attendees came from across the U.K. including London, Northern Ireland, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Inverness. We were amazed at how far gin fans travel for their favourite tipple.
The journey was certainly worth taking as they had the chance to sample over 40 artisan gins, learn all about where they come from, how they are made and meet the people behind the distilleries. Although it looks like we were having a tea party, our gin lovers were in fact sampling ‘Mother’s Ruin’ in the traditional way from a tea cup. How civilised!
Our small masterclasses proved to be a big hit again this year. Following refurbishments at The Brisbane House Hotel, we thought that we would not be able to offer these classes on this occasion. However, the hotel kindly provided a small, intimate space for us within their restaurant to hold 4 masterclasses by El:Gin, Berry Bros & Rudd, Harris and Arbikie. It was fantastic to learn more about these award winning distilleries from those who know them best.
For the gin lovers who were reluctant to go home, the evening was rounded off with some excellent live music in The Brisbane House Hotel’s bar. The exceptionally talented Classic Acoustic Songbook provided the perfect end to a gintastic evening.
If you missed out this time, be the first to hear about our upcoming GinFests and in-store tasting sessions by signing up to our newsletter. We’re already planning a fantastic line-up of events for 2018!
All of the gins from the festival are now available to buy in our shop in Largs.
Finally a huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported Geraldo’s GinFest 2017.
