Flavour Information
Know your onions: CHUTNEY: A thick, sticky mixture of fruit and vegetables, cooked with spices, sugar and vinegar. PICKLE: Lightly cooked larger pieces of fruit and vegetables preserved in vinegar and spices. RELISH: A softer more chunky condiment with a piquant sauce.
Red Onion Marmalade - A true savoury classic, Hawkshead's red onion marmalade keeps it simple with caramelised Red Onions, with Balsamic Vinegar, Raisins, Herbs and Spices
Beetroot & Horseradish Chutney - A much loved original and an all-rounder. Hawkshead's Beetroot and Horseradish Chutney recipe has been untouched since they perfected the recipe in the early 2000s. Deep in flavour, colour and texture, the grated beetroot adds a natural earthy flavour that is unbeatable with fresh salads whilst the touch of Horseradish adds warmth and depth to the chutney. Don’t be put off by the Horseradish; the heat is mellowed by the onions and beetroot it is cooked with. If you are looking for something different and flavoursome to add to your sandwiches, then this is the Chutney for you.
Fruity Cranberry Sauce - A family recipe with Cranberries, Bramley Apples, Spices and a hint of Lemon Juice.
Chilli Jam - A soft jam like consistency with chillies, onion, garlic and spices. Hawkshead's Chilli Jam is sweet but has a hot finish, making it incredibly versatile and moreish. Marinade chicken legs in it for a lovely heat and a sticky finish once cooked or add it to a stir fry for a sweet and spicy touch.
Damson Chutney - When the Damsons come into season, Hawkshead produces this delicious, fruity Chutney: an ideal accompaniment to toasties, cheeseboards, and cold meats. The dates create a rich base, whilst the raisins and damsons bring a fruity and flavourful taste.
Mango Chutney - Finished with lemon and lime for a citrus palette cleanser, chilli, cumin, and coriander are just a few spices in this complex chutney.
Cranberry Relish - Despite traditionally only making an appearance during the festive period, this Cranberry Relish is perfect all year. Made with a base of rich cranberries with onion, apple, raisins, then finished off with seasonal spices and a touch of orange zest. The Relish is ideal for pairing with cheese – the fruity flavours balance strong flavours perfectly.
Cheeseboard Chutney - A newer addition to the Hawkshead collection but an instant best seller. The Cheeseboard Chutney is everything you expect and more. Packed with apples, figs, cranberries, and a good glug of Pinot Noir these ingredients come together to create something wonderful. Created solely with Cheeseboards in mind we can’t think of any cheese that wouldn’t pair well with this chutney. Perhaps try adding a few spoons to your winter casseroles for a fruity and rich infusion.
Fig & Cinnamon Chutney - Extremely versatile and flavoursome, a must have for the store cupboard! Sticky, rich, and very moreish. Try it with a homemade feta and spinach tart for a sweet addition to the dish. Or warmed in a pan with a little orange juice for a quick sauce for Roast Duck.
Kashmiri Tomato Chutney - A chutney inspired by frequent visits to India, the recipe was developed with a passion for rich, bold, and spicy flavours. Just a spoonful of the Kashmiri Tomato Chutney will transform homemade curries into something special. Equally enjoyable dolloped onto burgers or stirred into a tomato soup for a heart-warming twist.
Bloody Mary Chutney - Despite the Bloody Mary Cocktail being an acquired taste, this Bloody Mary Chutney will be a guaranteed favourite! A tomato base which is enriched with celery, red chillies, and vodka there is nothing to not love. A perfect chutney to have on top of burgers or add a few tablespoons to your homemade tomato soup for a sophisticated twist. After all, its always five O’clock somewhere.

The Hawkshead Relish Company is an artisan producer of award winning preserves based in the historic village of Hawkshead in the heart of the English Lake District. Production takes place just south of Hawkshead in a beautifully restored 16th century barn on the edge of Esthwaite Water, whilst the original premises is now home to the shop and a showcase for the range in the centre of Hawkshead village.
