Fortaleza Blanco Tequila
Using traditional methods, Tequila Fortaleza Blanco is a 100% agave tequila that tastes like no other. Produced in Mexico and hand-filled in hand-blown bottles, this is truly a unique, artisan tequila.
By using 100% Blue Weber Agave, this means that 100% of the natural juice of the Agave plant is used. Aromas of citrus and rich cooked agave fill your nose in this very special blanco tequila. Flavours include citrus, cooked agave, vanilla, basil, olive and lime.
Each of the hand-blown bottles has its own Pina stopper made out of wood resin, painted green then individually sanded to replicate the look of the Pina.
A beautiful artisan tequila presented in a unique bottle, this makes a really lovely and unusual gift.

Made by the fifth generation of the Sauza family in Mexico, Gulliermo Sauza is honouring the tradition of his family and using artisanal methods to create the best 100% agave tequila that tastes like no other.
They take the Pina’s (heart) from the Blue Weber Agave and cook them in their over 100 year old oven for 40 hours. Once cooked the Pinas are crushed and they use traditional methods which involve a big stone Tahona. This 500kg wheel is made out of the granite stone found in the tequila mountain and is over 100 years old. Tahona crushing does not produce high yields as it cannot crush as much as industrial methods. From Tahona crushing you get around 65% of the juice available from the agave's however these are the sweeter parts of the plant as they are the softest parts. It means you get less bitter and harsh flavours in your tequila, but it does make the production process very expensive too. This crushing process also takes a day and a half to compete. Quite a job!
Their fermentation is completely natural, and the process takes about 5 days. They then distill twice to only about 60% ABV this means they have to use much less water to bring it down to the 40% we are looking for. Some distilleries will distill to a much higher ABV say 80% in order to get a higher yield of liquid in the end. Fortaleza want to contain and keep as much of the natural agave flavour as possible.The result is a very unique, artisan tequila which certainly tastes like no other.
