1770 Original is Glasgow Distillery's flagship single malt scotch whisky and one-third of their Signature Range. Double distilled with unpeated malted barley, this fresh and fruity single malt has been matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and finished for six months in fresh virgin American white oak.

The resulting single malt is what they call their ‘fresh & fruity’ style of whisky. Packed with notes of orange peel, rich vanilla, dark fruit, and a long-lasting hint of black pepper spice, the mouthfeel is rich and waxy to provide a flavour-forward enjoyable experience.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried dark fruits with tropical undertones on the nose, followed by hints of biscuit, oak and freshly cut grass.

Palate: Sweet butterscotch with a crème brulee char on the pallet. Hints of freshly sliced pear, dried figs, dates and raisin with sweet almond, honey and creamy shortbread notes.

Finish: A long finish of thickly spread orange marmalade, nutmeg notes underpinned by complex woodiness and a slight spice.

Glasgow Distillery is a freestanding, independently owned distillery that was started by two friends in 2012 with a mission to bring premium spirits distillation back to Scotland’s biggest city.

They are Glasgow’s distillery. Always aspiring to do better, they punch above their weight and aim to push the boundaries.

With just a small team of 16 spirit lovers, they create a portfolio of flavoured-packed spirits across whisky, gin, vodka, and rum. These character-rich products are each inspired by a story rooted in the city’s heritage and history.
