Gold Award Winner at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

The Open Special Edition 2024 is crafted in the shadow of Ben Lomond to celebrate the 152nd Open at Royal Troon, Scotland. This expression uses a combination of whisky from Loch Lomond's unique Straight Neck pot stills and more traditional Swan Neck stills. It starts its maturation in American Oak casks to create the signature fruit, honey and soft smoke style only found in Loch Lomond Single Malt Whisky.

Master Blender Michael Henry has crafted this unique expression alongside Loch Lomond's Whiskies Ambassador, Colin Montgomerie to explore the influence of aromatic and luscious French Chardonnay casks on the Loch Lomond signature style.

A range of casks have been hand selected for finishing in first-fill Chardonnay wine casks to complement the Loch Lomond signature distillery style with additional depth of flavour. These exceptional Chardonnay wine casks help to craft a subtle whisky that has notes of honey blossom, vibrant orchard fruit and toasted oak that perfectly complements the soft smoke on the finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Lemon citrus, green apple, pear and vanilla.
