Springbank Distillery is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out 100% of the production process on one site. For them, this means unrivalled quality control and the opportunity to pour decades of experience and passion into every drop of their world-class whisky.

This 21 Year Old expression is matured in a mixture of ex-port, bourbon, rum and sherry casks. Expect notes of melon and blueberries, followed by a palate of smoked figs, dark fruits and brown sugar and a finish of subtle peat smoke.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Honeydew melon, blueberries, stewed plums, orange rind and dunnage earth notes kick off this dram.

Palate: Into the palate, there are notes of smoked figs, dark fruits, brown sugar, blackberries, leather and a hint of smoke. The mouth-feel is rich, viscous and creamy.

Finish: A long-lasting finish of salted caramel, toffee and the continuation of the subtle peat smoke.

Springbank Distillery

Springbank distillery is the oldest independent, family-owned distillery in Scotland. Legal distillation began in 1828. The chairman is Hedley Wright, the great, great grandson of John Mitchell, the first legal distiller of Springbank whisky.

There are a few Scottish distilleries that still malt their own barley but Springbank is the only distillery which malts 100% of its own barley, using the traditional floor maltings. The whole production process: malting, milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation and bottling, happens on the one site in Campbeltown. This is unique in Scotland.

Three malt whiskies are produced at Springbank distillery, each with its own character. Springbank which is 80% of production, is lightly peated and distilled two and a half times. Longrow is more heavily peated and distilled two times. Hazelburn is unpeated and distilled three times.
